The WebIntelligence extranet deployment package is designed to install, quickly configure, and deploy WebIntelligence for a client organization within 20 days.
Approach
The extranet deployment package is an intensive program so the scope and
functionality of the system need to be initially agreed upon with the business
sponsors.
Online access to the existing underlying data can be performed once the
WebIntelligence server hardware and software is installed and configured and an
initial universe of objects is created. Key business reports can then be
produced to meet user reporting requirements within a defined security model.
End user training is provided in query, reporting, and analysis over the web
using a standard internet browser. If granted appropriate access rights, users
can then perform their own queries on the data to improve their ad hoc
capabilities, and extend their scope of reporting into other areas of interest.
Package Contents
A complete extranet deployment package contains:
- 20 days of on-site consulting to provide extranet access to customer data including software installation and configuration of WebIntelligence application servers
- One place in the six day IT training stream which includes the BusinessObjects fundamentals course, Designer and Supervisor training, followed by the WebIntelligence system administration course
- Eight places for end users at an on-site WebIntelligence user course
- An evolution plan documenting the steps to take the initial implementation forward

This reduces the risks involved in simultaneously trying to learn and deploy new technologies within an operational business environment.
Prerequisites
To maximize the benefit of this package, the customer needs to provide an understanding of their user business reporting and data access requirements. Customers should also provide knowledge of - and access to - their underlying database schema where the required data is held. If this is not available, Business Objects can provide additional consulting services to produce a complete solution, outside the scope of this package.
